ONE HEALTH ON PLANET ZERO WASTE FOR HEALTHY PEOPLE FACULTY OF PUBLIC HEALTH LAUNCHES ZERO WASTE MOVEMENT

With the tagline “One Health On Planet Zero Waste For Healthy People“, the Faculty of Public Health launched the zero waste movement. This commitment is a form of FPH support for the Universitas Diponegoro campus area. The declaration was carried out by Prof. Dr. Budiyono, SKM, M.Kes, on July 3, 2026 attended by all lecturers, education staff and all student organizations at FPH UNDIP. This commitment is clear evidence that the University campus supports the Semarang City government in managing waste. Support is also provided by partners of Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) UNDIP in providing transportation facilities.

The zero waste commitment at FPH UNDIP has been supported by the construction of waste management facilities and infrastructure. Waste selection facilities have been provided by FPH in the form of containers consisting of 4 types, namely waste for compost, food waste, plastic waste and waste that has a selling value. FPH has also built a composter unit equipped with a chopper machine.

The results of the sorting are processed according to the type of waste. Compost and leaf waste is composted with Aerobic Composting Technology, which is covered with leachate handling units. Planting Media Technology, to process food waste waste. Plastic waste is handled with K3L for the pyrolysis process, converted into diesel fuel. Waste that has a selling value is handled with the Cleaning Service group and Partners, generating funds to support the waste processing process.

Waste generation from FPH has an average daily weight of 125 kg/day, capable of handling up to 65% independently, while 35% is carried out in collaboration with K3L UNDIP. This Zero Waste commitment will continue to be developed with other commitments in the form of Green Even. It is a commitment to sort waste when there are activities on campus, both faculty activities and student activities.

The final part was marked by the signing of a joint commitment in the zero waste movement at FPH. Currently, waste management at FPH has produced compost and bioactive media products, which are used for planting and landscaping media at the Faculty of Public Health.
