On April 19, 2026, students majoring in Environmental Health at the Faculty of Public Health, Undip (FKM Undip) 2026—commonly known as Convident (Community of Environmental Health Students)—successfully held the Environmental Health Festival Campaign in the Simpang Lima area of Semarang. The event carried the theme “Environmental Expedition: Education, Campaign, and Concrete Action in Mangrove Planting to Achieve the SDGs” and was open to the general public. The event was opened with remarks by Prof. Dr. Budiyono, S.K.M., M.Kes, Dean of the Faculty of Public Health at Diponegoro University, and was attended by Dr. Yusniar Hanani Darundiati, S.TP., M.Kes, Head of the Environmental Health Department.
This activity is part of an environmental campaign to commemorate Earth Day, which is celebrated worldwide every April 22. This commemoration serves as a crucial opportunity to raise public awareness regarding various environmental issues, such as climate change, ecosystem degradation, and the decline in environmental quality.
The lineup of events at the 2026 Environmental Health Festival includes group exercise sessions, free health screenings, environmental campaigns, a fun walk, door prize giveaways, and interactive mini-game sessions. These activities are not only educational but also encourage active community participation in preserving the environment through concrete actions. Through these activities, the community is encouraged to be more mindful of the surrounding environment and to contribute to sustainable efforts to preserve the Earth.
Additionally, these activities support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are global development goals aimed at fostering sustainable living. This support is realized through environmental education (SDG 4), protection of coastal ecosystems (SDG 14), increased awareness of water quality and sanitation (SDG 6), strengthening the community’s role in creating sustainable cities (SDG 11), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration among various parties in organizing this event.
Through this initiative, it is hoped that public awareness and concern for the environment will continue to grow, and that it will inspire concrete actions to preserve the Earth for future generations.
