Semarang (30/8)- The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic has had an impact on various aspects of life, including the health sector. Various sub-systems in the National Health System experience inequality, thus requiring evaluation and reinforcement to improve health resilience in Indonesia. On 30-31 August 2022, the Faculty of Public Health held a Web Conference of the 4th International Conference of Public Health for Tropical and Coastal Regions (ICOPH-TCD) entitled “Strengthening Health Resilience in Public Health System After of Covid- Pandemic”.
This event presented 9 speakers from various countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, America, Taiwan, and Brunei Darussalam. The event began with an opening speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Diponegoro, Dr. Budiyono BSPH, MPH. Followed by keynote speaker presentation from Dr.dr. Maxi Rein Rondonowu, DHSM, MARS from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.
The presentation of the material on the first day was delivered by Assistant Professor Mohammad S. Jalali, Ph.D. (Harvard University, USA), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rafdzah Ahmad Zaki (University of Malaya, Malaysia), Dr. Khadizah H.Abdul Mumin (University of Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Darussalam), and Assoc. Prof. Hanifa Maher Denny, BSPH, MPH, Ph.D. (Diponegoro University, Indonesia). While on the second day, the material was delivered by Prof. Darryl Macer (American University of Sovereign Nations, USA), Prof. John Parrish-Sprowl, Ph.D. (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, USA), Prof. Kun-Hsien Tsai (National Taiwan University, Taiwan), and Prof. Amanda Lee (The University of Queensland, Australia).
Nurhasmadiar Nandini, BSPH, MPH as the head of the organizer of the 4th ICOPH TCD 2022 said that this event was attended by 297 participants from within and outside the country. The 223 participants also disseminated their research results and ideas related to public health in oral presentations in parallel sessions. In the end of the conference, it was announced that I Gede Dedy Suwartawan chosen as general best presenter.
“This is a great conference. The speakers have been delivered insigthful presentation, presenters with various exposures to their research, and also presenting various ice-breaking and performance bands that collaborated with dancers. Congratulations to the committee,” said Ariani, a participant in this conference.
At the end of the event, the appearance of 2 dancers accompanied by Javanese pop music by Studio 8 ended the web conference event which had been held for 2 days. Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Diponegoro hopes that this activity can give many insights to participants regarding public health in general and strengthening the health system after the Covid-19 pandemic in particular. It is also hoped that this activity can open the opportunities for collaboration with other institutions both Indonesia and other countries.
