The Student Go International (SGI) activity is one of the Universitas Diponegoro’s World Class University (WCU) programs. In 2023 the Faculty of Public Health in collaboration with Prevenue Corporation Sdn Bhd Malaysia is holding a “Disease Vector and Pest Management Strategy” training which lasts for 5 days (18-22 June 2023) in Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur. As many as 30 students took part in this program, 10 Masters of Environmental Health students from the Concentration of Health Entomology, 20 Undergraduate Public Health students, 5 Health Entomology students, and 15 Environmental Health students.

Training materials include:

  1. Applications of Environmental Health in Vector and Pest Control

  2. Control and Management of Vector in Malaysia

  3. Medically Important Vectors and Pests

  4. Innovative Strategies to Control Dengue and Dengue Vectors

  5. Leptospirosis Epidemiology and Control in Malaysia

  6. An Update on Malaria Control and Its Vector Surveillance in Malaysia

  7. Nanotechnology for Malaria and Vector Control

  8. An Update on Malaria Control and Its Vector Surveillance in Malaysia

In addition to some of these materials, there was also a panel discussion session moderated by Prof. Dr. Zalina Hashim with the discussion theme:

  1. Applications of Medical Entomology in Research and Disease Control (Dr. Khadri Sahar, IMR Malaysia)
  2. Vector Control Private Sector (Shahrem Md Ramli, Ensytex Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunai)
  3. Rodent and Ectoparasite : A Study of Possible Human Transmission, Dr. Martini, Universitas Diponegoro)

In this program students are also invited to make visits to several universities and research centers in Malaysia, including:

  1. Tropical Unfectious Disease Research and Education Centre (TIDREC), Universiti Malaysia
  2. Bio Medical Museum Institute of Medical Research Malaysia
  3. Entomology Laboratory, Universitas Kebangsaan Malaysia

This program is a student internationalization activity that provides many academic experiences for students. It is hoped that this program will be able to increase the interest, participation and achievement of Diponegoro University students in international events.
