From October 29 to November 1, 2025, the Indonesian Association of Public Health Universities (AIPTKMI) Central Region I – Central Java and Yogyakarta, led by the Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, Diponegoro University, Dr. Budiyono, SKM., M.Kes., hosted a series of workshops and the 16th AIPTKMI National Working Meeting in 2025. The series of events began with a workshop held at the Faculty of Public Health, Diponegoro University (FKM UNDIP), continued with the Grand Final of the 4th IPHO (Indonesia Public Health Olympiad), and concluded with the 16th AIPTKMI National Working Meeting held at The Wujil Resort & Convention.
The Pre-Rakernas Workshop was attended by 228 participants from various Public Health Education institutions throughout Indonesia and involved approximately 15 speakers, including experts, practitioners, and academics from various institutions. Seven workshop topics were opened in this series of activities: Developing the OBE Curriculum, Developing and Evaluating Type A RPL, Reproductive Health in Disasters, Writing Productive Scientific Articles Using AI, Policy Briefs, Accreditation of New Instruments, and the WHO’s Health Equity Assessment Tools (HEAT).
The Faculty of Public Health (FKM) at Diponegoro University (UNDIP) also welcomed finalists from the Grand Final of the 4th IPHO/Indonesia Public Health Olympiad, a competition comprising various disciplines and attended by 214 teams from public health universities across Indonesia, totaling 590 participants. The Olympiad involved 44 universities across 20 provinces in Indonesia.
The series of activities concluded with a National Working Meeting on the theme “The Role of Community Health Workers in Supporting Asta Cita: Strengthening Sustainable Promotive and Preventive Strategies Towards a Golden Indonesia,” held on November 1, 2025, at The Wujil Resort & Conventions. The Indonesian Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, also attended as a keynote speaker, followed by a plenary session with speakers from the Ministry of Health’s Human Resources and Health (HRK), the Deputy for Strategic Policy of the Ministry of Education and Culture/BKKBN (National Population and Family Planning Board), the Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Tohoku University, UNFPA, BGN, BNPB, and the Deputy for Social Affairs of the Ministry of Health.
In his speech, the Minister of Health stated that the Ministry of Health supports the establishment of professional public health education and that in the future, public health professions will be designated as functional positions, namely Public Health functional positions, no longer divided into epidemiology, health promotion, health administration, and so on. This statement was also reinforced by the Director General of Human Resources for Health, the Ministry of Health, Dr. Yuli Farianti, M.Epid, who stated that the Ministry of Health will proceed with a policy related to the unification of functional positions for public health workers. This statement was delivered before all participants, consisting of leaders of public health universities from across Indonesia. Therefore, it is hoped that all public health universities will have the same perception regarding public health professional education and the future of public health workers in Indonesia and can prepare educational institutions to strengthen the competence of future public health workers in supporting the Asta Cita of Human Resources (HR) Improvement.
