The global climate change and environmental health challenge is a pressing issue that affects human health in multiple ways. Climate change is linked to various health impacts, including increased mortality rates, respiratory problems, and mental health issues. The effects of climate change on health are both direct and indirect, with the latter being more significant.
The Master of Environmental Health Study Program, Faculty of Public Health Diponegoro University presented a General Lecture entitled Global Climate Change and Enviromental Health Challenge and Air Pollution and Health with the guest speakers Prof. Jamal Hisham Hashim, Ph.D (University of Selangos Shah Alam Campus) and Dr. Zailina Hashim (University Putra Malaysia), on Tuesday the 30th of April 2024. The seminar was moderated by Dr Yusniar Hanani Darundiati, STP, M.Kes. Professor Jamal is an honorary professor of environmental health at the University of Selangor (Unisel). He is also a director of Provenue Corporation, an environmental consultancy firm specialising in health risk and impact assessment. His topic was Global Climate Change and Enviromental Health Challenge. His presentation was very interesting and many students asked questions and discussed with him. The following topic was presented by Dr Zailina Hashim entitled Air Pollution and Health. Dr Zailina currently works at the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Dr. Zailina does research in Public Health. This general lecture was attended by all Undergraduate Programme students majoring in environmental health and Master’s students in Environmental Health.
