To strengthen the commitment of the Faculty of Public Health in combating malaria in Purworejo, FKM UNDIP has once again strengthened its commitment by establishing a field laboratory together with the Purworejo district health office (Dinas Kesehatan Kab Purworejo).
This malaria field lab is fully supported by the head of Dinas Kesehatan Kab Purworejo, Dr. Sudarmi M. Kes. This malaria field lab is built on the grounds of the old malaria center which has been renovated. The construction plan for this 2-story building will function as a regional health lab, including a malaria field lab.
This collaboration between the District Health office, FKM UNDIP and Universities in South Korea (Yonsei University, Kangwon National University and Chungbuk National University) will strengthen the role of this malaria field lab in supporting malaria elimination in Purworejo. During this visit, Prof Jeon, Prof Han, Prof Choe and Dr Jun also had the opportunity to see the Village Malaria Specialist in carrying out mosquito vector surveillance in Kaligesing Village. This short visit was to initiate in strengthening the role of the malaria field lab in Purworejo in supporting malaria elimination.
