Semarang, Indonesia – The Faculty of Public Health, Diponegoro University (FKM UNDIP) has initiated the establishment of the Center for Public Health Genomics and Zoonosis, a prospective academic and research hub dedicated to advancing studies on genomics and zoonotic diseases.

This initiative is being developed in collaboration with international partners from South Korea, including Prof. Jeon Bo-Young from Yonsei University and Prof. Han Jin-Hee from Kangwon National University. The center is envisioned to become a platform for collaborative research, education, and public health action addressing the growing challenges of zoonotic diseases and infectious disease genomics.

“The initiation of this center reflects our commitment to strengthening global academic partnerships and creating innovative research that will benefit society. By combining expertise in genomics and zoonosis, we aim to contribute to evidence-based strategies and solutions for public health,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Public Health, Diponegoro University.

The planned center will focus on the Tridharma of Higher Education, which includes:

  1. Education – enhancing curriculum development, academic exchange, and student capacity building.
  2. Research – advancing scientific studies in genomics, zoonosis, and molecular epidemiology through international collaboration.
  3. Community Service – translating scientific evidence into practical programs for disease prevention and health promotion.

With the involvement of distinguished scholars from Yonsei University and Kangwon National University, the initiation of this center is expected to pave the way for stronger international collaboration and future innovations in public health genomics and zoonosis.
