FKM UNDIP Successfully Hosts The 8th Summer Course Program 2025: “Heritage and Wisdom for Better Public Health”

The Faculty of Public Health, Diponegoro University (FKM UNDIP), once again achieved a milestone by successfully organizing the 8th Summer Course Program 2025 with the theme “Heritage and Wisdom for Better Public Health.” The program was held online from September 17–26, 2025, through Zoom Meeting and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).

In his opening speech, the Dean of FKM UNDIP, Dr. Budiyono, SKM, M.Kes, emphasized that culture and local wisdom play a crucial role in addressing global public health challenges. “Indonesia has a wealth of traditional practices, ranging from herbal medicine, community-based health programs, to disease prevention strategies. All of these are relevant to be studied together in the context of global public health,” he stated.

This year, the program was attended by 22 participants from six countries: Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, Mozambique, Malaysia, and Kenya. Over ten days, participants engaged in a series of lectures, interactive discussions, and virtual tours to gain a closer understanding of the Indonesian public health context. Closing the event, the Head of the Committee, Dzul Fahmi Afriyanto, SKM, M.Kes, expressed his appreciation to all parties who supported the program. “This event is not the end, but rather the beginning of global collaboration in research and public health promotion,” he remarked.

As a form of recognition, the committee also presented the Best Participant Award to two international participants considered the most active in contributing to discussions: Kawuwa Usman Abubakar from Nigeria and Otiene Dorcas Nicole from Kenya. This award is expected to serve as motivation for all participants to continue strengthening global academic networks.

With the success of this year’s program, FKM UNDIP further demonstrates its commitment as an international learning hub that promotes the synergy of science, culture, and cross country collaboration in pursuit of better public health.
