Faculty of Public Health Embraces Global Engagement with university in South Korea: Internationalization Initiatives Propel Research and Collaboration

The Faculty of Public Health is committed to becoming an internationally recognized faculty of public health. Through the routine program of visiting professors from abroad, Faculty of Public Health, at the beginning of this year, we welcome Prof Jeon Bo-Young from the College of Software Digital Healthcare Convergence, Department of Biomedical Lab Science, Yonsei University with Kangwon National University (Prof Han Jin-Hee and Dr Jun Hojong) and Chungbuk National University (Prof Choe Seongjun).

This visiting professor activity is fully supported by the World Class University Task Force from Diponegoro University. This activity was carried out from January 31 to February 6 2024 with various activities. While in Indonesia, Professors performed activities, such as: general lecture on the topic of resurgence of infectious diseases in the post-covid19 era, community service in malaria endemic areas in Purworejo, Central Java, training on identification of zoonotic diseases from rodents and mosquitoes, as well as intensive discussions on development faculty of public health and field laboratory for zoonosis diseases.

All of these activities ended with the signing of an implementation agreement between Yonsei University (Prof Jeon Bo-Young), Kangwon National University (Prof Han Jin-Hee), Chungbuk National University (Prof Choe Seongjun) and the Faculty of Public Health UNDIP. The collaboration includes: Collaborate/advise on zoonotic disease projects, Facilitate writing and submitting scientific publications and research grants where their expertise allows, Advise and supervise on establishing a molecular lab in The Faculty of Public Health (UNDIP), Work towards building exchange and visiting faculty programs for example to facilitate staff training, summer school development, workshops and short courses, A collaborative degree program by offering students to continue a master’s degree
