The University Internationalization Program of Faculty of Public Health has set its aims to cultivate a diverse and globally engaged academic community by facilitating collaboration and partnerships with institutions in South Korea. Public Health Doctoral Program (DIKM) The Faculty of Public Health was creating a community service program (3 february 2024) in a malaria endemic area in Purworejo, Central Java in collaboration with Professors from Yonsei University (Prof Jeon Bo-Young), Kangwon National University (Prof Han Jin-Hee and Dr Jun Hojong), and Chungbuk National University (Prof Choe Seongjun) South Korea.
The community service program at the Faculty of Public Health aims to strengthen the university’s involvement in making direct contributions to society through initiatives that focus on disease prevention, health improvement, and community empowerment. Through partnerships with government institutions such as the Purworejo District Health Service, the Kaligesing district government, and the Ngadirejo village government, this program seeks to implement the latest innovative solutions in handling malaria in Kaligesing malaria endemic area. This activity was carried out in two locations; at the Kaligesing district hall and at the Ngadirejo village office.
This activity invited 30 community health volunteers (kader kesehatan) from Kaligesing area and 30 community health volunteers (kader kesehatan) from Ngadirejo Village area to get education regarding the latest solutions in handling malaria in pregnant women and their families. By emphasizing international multidisciplinary collaboration and a participatory approach, this community service program not only aims to provide direct benefits to society, but also to provide valuable learning experiences for students and faculty in applying their knowledge and skills to help the community.
