A team of lecturers from the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences (PKIP), Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Diponegoro, carried out a community service activity in Tembalang Village, Semarang City, by initiating a youth-based Warga Peduli AIDS (WPA) program in collaboration with Karang Taruna. The activity aims to strengthen the role of young people in HIV/AIDS prevention efforts and to promote an inclusive, stigma-free, and health-conscious community.
The main activity were an offline workshop on the establishment of WPA and HIV/AIDS literacy, which was held at the Tembalang Village Hall. Members of Karang Taruna were provided with knowledge on HIV/AIDS, prevention strategies, stigma reduction, and health communication skills. Participatory learning methods, including group discussions, case studies, and educational communication simulations, were applied to encourage active engagement and meaningful learning.
Through this activity, participants showed improvements in knowledge, attitudes, and skills in delivering HIV/AIDS prevention messages to the community. This community service program reflects the commitment of Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences (PKIP), Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Diponegoro lecturers to implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and supporting youth-based community empowerment and health promotion.
