Profile
History
The establishment of the Faculty of Public Health, Diponegoro University, began with the issuance of the Rector’s Decree of Diponegoro University No. 01/SK/PT.09/1985 dated January 4, 1985, concerning the establishment of the Public Health Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University (PSKM-FK UNDIP).
In its development toward becoming a faculty, PSKM FK-UNDIP received funding support from the project for the development of Public Health Faculties across Indonesia, a collaborative project between the Directorate General of Higher Education, the Ministry of Education and Culture, and USAID.
After all the requirements for establishing a faculty were fulfilled, on November 21, 1993, the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia issued Decree No. 0369/O/1993 concerning the establishment of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) and the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) at Diponegoro University. Since then, the Public Health Study Program of Diponegoro University has officially become its own faculty.
At its inception, PSKM FK-UNDIP only admitted second-year undergraduate students (Cross-Track Program), who generally came from institutions within the Ministry of Health. Starting in the 1986/1987 academic year, it began admitting high school graduates through the New Student Admission Selection (SPMB) and the Potential Student Selection Program (PSSB).
In the 1997/1998 academic year, FKM UNDIP began admitting non-regular students from D-3 graduates, while non-regular admissions from high school graduates were opened in 2005. In the 1999/2000 academic year, a bridging program from D-3 to S-2 was also organized in collaboration with the Health Project-V (HP-V) of the Ministry of Health. Furthermore, in the 2001/2002 academic year, a special class was opened through collaboration between FKM UNDIP and the Regency Government.
In the 1999/2000 academic year, the Master of Public Health Sciences (MIKM) program (S-2) was opened. In 2001, two additional Master’s programs were established, namely the Master of Health Promotion and the Master of Environmental Health. In 2014, the Doctoral Program (S-3) in Public Health was launched. Thus, the programs currently available at the Faculty of Public Health are:
-
Doctoral Program (S-3) in Public Health
