Semarang – Wednesday, November 2nd , 2022, community service activities have been carried out in the form of nutrition education and training on food consumption surveys for cadres and breastfeeding mothers in Sumowono District, Semarang Regency. This activity is part of the Tri Dharma College activities, FKM UNDIP. The activity was carried out at the Sumowono village meeting hall and was attended by 20 cadres and 40 breastfeeding mothers. The activity began with an opening and remarks by representatives of the Sumowono Public Health Centre.

The event continued with the presentation of material on Nutrition for Breastfeeding Mothers by Dina Rahayuning Pangestuti, S.TP, M.Gizi. In her presentation she explained the importance of adequate nutritional intake for breastfeeding mothers. Then the second session was filled with material on Early Detection of Malnutrition in Toddlers by Naintina Lisnawati, SKM, M.Gizi. In this session she explained the clinical physical characteristics of malnourished toddlers, one of which was bilateral pitting oedema. The cadres then practiced how to ensure bilateral pitting oedema using wheat flour.

The event was continued with a mini food consumption survey training, namely training on the estimation of household size (URT) converted to weight units (grams) by Sulistyawati, SKM, M.Gz. The training was attended by cadres with the aim that cadres have knowledge in estimating Household Size as a provision later on to conduct a 24-hour recall. Hopefully, this community service provides benefits in the form of increasing the knowledge and attitudes of cadres and breastfeeding mothers about the importance of balanced nutrition. The event closed with a group photo and the giving of souvenir to the Sumowono Public Health Centre.
